Between 6 and 14 September 2025, Christians throughout the UK will participate in a week of prayer, focused on both national and spiritual renewal.
This event, known as the National Week of Prayer (NWoP), is seen as an invitation for people to return to God and trust in His promise of restoration.
Drawing inspiration from the biblical verse in Zechariah 1:3, “‘Return to me,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will return to you,’” the initiative aims to bring believers together for a time of prayer, worship, and reflection on God’s ongoing work in the nation.
Rachel Jordan-Wolf, the CEO of Hope Together, one of the ministries supporting the event, shared her thoughts in a recent post on X. “Prayer can bring real change,” she said. “It’s transformative and brings us closer to God. When we pray, things happen that we may not immediately see, but the impact is far-reaching.”
The week will include both virtual and in-person gatherings, with regional prayer meetings and specific themes each day. Topics for prayer will range from government and education to healthcare workers, the youth, and the Church itself.
Across different Christian denominations, churches and ministries will come together to pray for spiritual revival and national transformation. A particular focus will be given to those who serve on the frontlines. Groups like the Christian Police Association, Christian Ambulance Association, and Firefighters for Christ will join in a special day dedicated to praying for emergency workers, organized by the Christian Emergency Network.
Organisers of the event hope the week will not only be a time of reflection on past spiritual milestones in the UK, but also a moment to look forward in faith for further growth and renewal. Many participants will use this time to give thanks for what God has done and pray for the future.
Several public figures have expressed their support for the initiative. Kam Flynn, featured in the official launch video for NWoP, highlighted the positive trends in church attendance across the UK, noting that two million more people are now attending church than six years ago. “There’s a growing sense that God is doing something in our nation,” she shared. “We long to see a spiritual revival and a change in the moral fabric of society.”
She went on to explain, “Prayer is the foundation for everything. Our Heavenly Father listens, and we must believe that when we pray, He acts. This week is about trusting in God’s ability to bring change and inviting everyone to join in.”
Bear Grylls, the well-known adventurer and TV personality, also lent his support, encouraging people to participate in the week of prayer. “Strength starts with humility,” he said. “We often find true power when we kneel in prayer. Everyone plays a role in God’s larger story of hope and redemption, and prayer is the starting point. It’s not about the words we use but the openness of our hearts.”
