Lawrence Oyor is a Nigerian gospel minister, songwriter, and revivalist whose life and music have touched thousands around the world. He was born on June 16, 1991, in Ibadan, Oyo State, as one of a pair of twins, alongside his brother Godswill Oyor. They were raised in a deeply Christian family by Reverend Gomba Fortune Oyor and Reverend Patience Oyor, who themselves are seasoned ministers of the gospel. Growing up in such a spiritual atmosphere shaped Lawrence’s early walk with God and set the foundation for his later ministry.
As a child, Lawrence showed a love for music and worship. By the time he was ten, he was already active in the children’s choir, where he began to nurture the gift that would later define his calling. His academic journey took him through Shalom Christian College in Ibadan and eventually to the University of Ibadan, where he studied Law, graduating in 2013. He later proceeded to the Nigerian Law School in Yola, but even while pursuing a career in law, his heart remained with worship and revival.
Lawrence’s passion for God soon found expression in music and ministry. Together with his twin brother, he co-founded the Davidic Minstrels, a movement committed to raising a generation of passionate worshippers through prophetic chants, revival songs, and deep worship encounters. His songs, often birthed in the place of prayer, are known for their prophetic weight and spiritual intensity. Tracks like Bowl of Fire, Eagles Flight, Burn the World, and Favour have become anthems in many Christian gatherings, stirring hunger and devotion among young people across Nigeria and beyond.
His desire for deeper grounding in the Word and ministry led him to study at the Texas Bible Institute in 2016, after which his calling became even clearer. Beyond music, Lawrence is also a pastor and teacher. In 2021, he co-founded the Davidic Generation Church, which serves as both a ministry platform and a revival hub. Through initiatives like Catalyst Network International and the Battle Axe Retreat, he has mentored young believers, equipping them to live boldly for Christ.
In his personal life, Lawrence Oyor married Darasimi Mike-Bamiloye in October 2020. Darasimi, the daughter of renowned gospel filmmaker Mike Bamiloye, is herself a spoken-word artist and filmmaker. Their union has been blessed with children, and together they continue to serve God through creative and spiritual expressions.
Lawrence’s ministry has not gone unnoticed. His songs have gained wide recognition, with Favour becoming one of the most streamed Nigerian gospel songs on platforms like Spotify in 2025. He has also been nominated for several gospel music awards both in Nigeria and internationally.
Today, Lawrence Oyor is celebrated as a prophetic voice to his generation. He is a man who blends the discipline of his legal training with the fire of revival, a worshipper whose chants ignite spiritual hunger, and a leader raising a new wave of believers committed to holiness and intimacy with God. His journey continues to inspire many, proving that a life wholly surrendered to Christ can indeed light a fire that spreads across nations.
