The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Cherubim and Seraphim Church for its century-long commitment to spiritual growth, humanitarian service, and national development.
He described the church as a vital partner in the shared mission of improving communities and enhancing lives across Lagos State.
Delivering the governor’s message at the church’s Centenary Celebration Award and Gala Night at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde highlighted the church’s contributions in key areas such as education, healthcare, water provision, and welfare.
He noted that these initiatives align with his administration’s commitment to fostering inclusive development across the state.
“For a church that has stood for a century, its impact goes beyond spirituality.
It has been a dependable ally in improving lives and strengthening communities,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor further emphasized the critical role of faith-based organizations in driving social change, particularly in supporting young people and promoting unity.
He praised the Cherubim and Seraphim Church for expanding its mission beyond healing and miracles to include structured evangelism, education, and youth empowerment.
In her remarks, Dr. Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, Iya Aladura General and founder of The New Seraph, urged the church to deepen its focus on youth empowerment and community service.
“The youth are our priority,” she stated. “They represent the future of our church and the nation. We must invest in their education and unity to guide them toward success.”
Dr. Harold Demuren, Chairman of the Centenary Anniversary Steering Committee, also lauded the church’s resilience over the past 100 years, attributing its growth to divine grace and visionary leadership.
The celebration paid tribute to the church’s founder, St. Moses Tunolase, and honoured individuals and organizations that have supported its global mission and expansion.
The centenary festivities culminated in a grand event at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on Tuesday. Groups across the Cherubim and Seraphim fold, including the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, The New Seraph, and Agbo Jesu—participated in the historic occasion.
