Founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, recently reflected on the events that followed the dedication of the Glory Dome, the church’s 100,000-seat auditorium.
He shared his experience as monitored by GospelRaw during the Uganda Healing and Deliverance Crusade, highlighting the challenges that came after the grand occasion.
Dr. Enenche described the dedication of the Glory Dome as an exhilarating moment, with numerous dignitaries in attendance, including Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, as well as Nigeria’s former and current Presidents, among others.
According to him, shortly after the dedication, the church faced intense criticism. Detractors questioned the purpose of such a monumental project, asking why the funds were not used for more immediate needs, such as building industries for the poor or providing employment.
He recalled that before they could fully savor the joy of the Glory Dome’s dedication, “demons rose everywhere” as critics argued: “What are they trying to celebrate? Why didn’t they use the money to build industries for the poor? The church should provide jobs. The church should do this and that. The church shouldn’t use such a huge amount of money for that kind of project.”
Despite the backlash, Dr. Enenche emphasised that the church did not solicit or use anyone’s money for the project.
He also noted that Dunamis had consistently supported the needy, yet critics remained unsatisfied.
He explained that the criticism became so overwhelming that some well-meaning individuals felt discouraged, believing the opposition was too great to withstand.
Nevertheless, he and his team stood firm, refusing to bow to negativity.
He maintained that the dedication of the Glory Dome had shaken the forces of darkness and made a powerful statement for the Kingdom of God.
Explaining the need for a larger facility, Dr. Enenche revealed that before the Glory Dome, the church held six services every Sunday, with approximately 50,000 worshippers in attendance. The previous building, located in Area One, could no longer accommodate the growing congregation, forcing many members to remain outside the fence during services. “Nobody knew we existed until the Glory Dome was dedicated,” he remarked.
He also drew a parallel with the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, who faced similar opposition after completing the Faith Arena.
According to Dr. Enenche, the Archbishop was falsely accused of various wrongdoings, including being labeled a drug pusher, following the inauguration of his own massive church building.
Offering encouragement to believers, Dr. Enenche urged them to recognise that pursuing a God-given vision often brings conflict with powerful spiritual forces.
However, he assured them that by remaining steadfast in their calling, no force can stop or derail their divine purpose.
