His passing comes 45 years after the death of his father and seven months after the demise of his elder brother, Pastor Kolade Akindayomi, who passed away in May this year.
Family friends described his death as sudden and deeply shocking. According to a close associate, Pastor Akindayomi had chaired a wedding ceremony only a day before his death and showed no sign of illness.
“He seemed perfectly fine. None of us could have imagined that he would be gone within 24 hours,” the source said.
GospelRaw gathered that he had gone out for a prayer walk on Sunday morning. On returning home, he reportedly slipped and fell, hitting his head against a sharp object. He lost consciousness and was pronounced dead before he could be taken to a hospital.
Until his passing, Pastor Akindayomi served as the Assistant Provincial Pastor of Ogun Province 5 of the RCCG. He was also an entrepreneur and ran a thriving printing business.
Sources close to the family disclosed that his wife and children had been living in Canada. Although his family had urged him to relocate, he preferred to remain in Nigeria to oversee his business and continue his ministry work.
In recent months, however, he had started making plans to join his family abroad after obtaining permanent residency in Canada. Sadly, that plan never came to pass.
One of his longtime friends and fellow pastor, Debo Akinyemi, described him as a quiet, humble man who shunned attention despite his background.
“He lived simply and related well with everyone,” Akinyemi said. “During the last RCCG convention, his home was open to many guests. His kindness and humility stood out.”
Akinyemi, who attended Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo, with the late pastor, recalled that he was gentle and respectful even from their school days. “He never flaunted his background or position. He was peaceful and content. His passing is a great loss,” he added.
Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi’s life was marked by devotion to faith, service, and quiet generosity.
