General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has announced his stance on grooming and dress standards for ministers in the church.
Speaking during a recent ministers’ meeting held ahead of the church’s annual convention, Pastor Adeboye expressed strong disapproval of modern fashion choices among church workers, particularly braided hairstyles for male pastors and the use of heavy cosmetics and beauty enhancements by female clergy.
“In our culture, the only men who braid their hair are priests of Sango, the thunder deity,” Adeboye stated.
“They say times are changing, but in this mission, we are not following worldly trends.”
The cleric criticized the growing popularity of artificial enhancements like false eyelashes, extravagant makeup, and long fake nails among women on the altar. “If you look like a Nollywood actress on stage, you will be asked to step down,” he warned.
“You may not like it, but if you are my children, you can’t defy me. Real men don’t wear makeup because they believe God made no mistakes in their creation.”
He further instructed pastors to reject any appearance that could be seen as flamboyant or suggestive of vanity. “If God wanted to make you a bird, He would have given you false nails and eyelashes.” he said while addressing the trend of artificial nails and lashes.
He urged RCCG ministers and workers to repent and embrace humility in both conduct and appearance.
“If anyone questions why you are making these changes, tell them, ‘Daddy GO said so,'” he added.
