The first daughter of the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, Eunice Wuraola Ogini, has urged pastors to avoid spreading false or unverified information about her father.
She emphasized that Apostle Babalola remained unwavering in his commitment to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout his life.
Her statement comes in response to recent remarks by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the lead pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).
Fatoyinbo had suggested that despite Apostle Babalola’s spiritual prominence, he lived in poverty, claiming that the renowned preacher had no financial means during his lifetime.
In a video message, Mrs. Ogini addressed these claims, stating that her father had been financially comfortable and well-provided for during his lifetime. She urged ministers of the gospel to ensure they verify the facts when discussing her father’s legacy.
She said: “I am Eunice Wuraola Ogini, the first daughter of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola. My father in his lifetime preached the gospel of Christ without compromise. During his crusades, people brought their idols, shrines, and occultic materials, which were destroyed by fire.”
She went on to advise that when speaking of her father, ministers should always speak the truth with respect and sincerity. She emphasized the importance of integrity, calling on fellow clergymen to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it publicly.
Mrs. Ogini also referenced the teachings of Apostle Paul in Colossians 4:6, which encourages believers to let their speech be gracious and seasoned with salt, reminding pastors to speak with care and accuracy when discussing matters of faith.
