Dr. Stephen Adegbite, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Lagos and Bishop of the Methodist Church of Lagos, has called on Christians across the nation to keep praying for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Adegbite made this appeal during an interview with the media while serving as the guest speaker at the Centenary Anniversary lecture of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Unification Church of Nigeria.
In his address, GospelRaw learnt that the Bishop emphasized the importance of unity within the Christian community and the need for continued prayers for Nigeria’s leaders.
He highlighted the significance of President Tinubu’s leadership and the collective efforts of the Church in supporting him through prayer.
“There is a pressing need for unity within the Church,” Adegbite said. “Just as the nation is one, we must also stand as one. President Bola Tinubu is doing well, and the churches are already lifting him up in prayer.
We must remain steadfast in our prayers, and by God’s grace, the centenary celebrations of the C&S Church in Nigeria will continue to thrive. It will be well with our country.”
The Bishop also took the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao, the Supreme Head of the C&S Unification, for playing a pivotal role in the church’s centenary celebrations.
He reflected on the history of the C&S Church, acknowledging that although the church was founded by Moses Orimolade, its journey through challenges over the last 100 years has been remarkable.
“Though we were not there at the beginning, despite all the crises, the C&S Church cannot be pushed back,” he remarked.
Adegbite further noted that the church had been called to exemplify holiness in Nigeria, and its influence on Pentecostal practices in the country is significant.
He stressed the importance of mutual understanding and unity within the body of Christ, saying, “Until we come together, we will remain stagnant. Anything less than unity is a waste of time. The Church will remain at the forefront until Christ returns.”
Responding, Dr. Alao expressed gratitude to the CAN Chairman for his kind words and affirmed that the C&S Church is making progress towards greater unity.
