Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has encouraged Nigerians, particularly the younger generation, to go beyond pointing out the shortcomings of leaders and begin preparing themselves to offer real solutions.
In a recent devotional message titled From Critic to Activist, drawn from the Open Heavens Daily Devotional, Pastor Adeboye highlighted the importance of constructive engagement. He said, “Don’t just criticise things or people; become a part of the solution you desire to see.”
He explained that while it is easy to protest or complain about problems in society, meaningful progress comes from taking responsibility and becoming capable of solving them. “It is often said that statues are never built in honour of critics. Carrying placards and protesting may attract attention, but beyond that, you must grow to where you can recommend and even provide the solutions you demand,” he added.
Using biblical examples to make his point, Pastor Adeboye referenced the prophet Elijah, who initially challenged King Ahab but later became a source of help during a time of need. He also mentioned Moses, noting that his early attempt to act on his calling without the necessary preparation led to years of delay.
“Beloved, be wise. God has a great destiny for you, but overzealousness can hinder its fulfilment. Rather than being a mere noisemaker, increase your capacity so you can become a force to be reckoned with. Your zeal must be matched with the right knowledge and actions,” he said.
Pastor Adeboye, who has served in ministry for more than fifty years, advised young people to direct their energy toward growth, wisdom and strategy. According to him, lasting change requires more than passion. It demands discipline, preparation and a clear understanding of how to move forward constructively.
