The Katsina State Government has introduced a new initiative aimed at promoting peace and addressing security challenges by offering monthly stipends to Christian clerics across the state.
This decision is part of efforts to engage religious leaders in supporting stability and progress through prayer.
The announcement, made by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Katsina, also included Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda’s approval for the recruitment of Christian Religious Studies (CRS) teachers in public schools. This comes as a response to a long-standing request from the association.
A statement issued by CAN Secretary Dr. Musa Daniel Danladi, on behalf of the State Chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Richard Shuaibu Liti, expressed gratitude to the governor for his actions. The association praised the gesture as an important step toward religious inclusivity and moral development in the state.
Dr. Musa highlighted that the addition of CRS teachers in schools would benefit Christian students by enhancing their academic performance while helping to instill solid moral values that will shape them into responsible citizens.
“We appreciate the governor’s support in providing stipends to pastors, which will encourage them to continue praying for the peace and prosperity of Katsina State,” Dr. Musa said, adding that the association hopes the initiative will continue beyond the governor’s time in office.
The association also called on qualified Christians in the state to apply for the CRS teaching positions and contribute to the moral and academic development of future generations.
