A Nigerian pastor has come under heavy criticism following allegations that he demanded a $1,000 payment from a church member, threatening deportation of her daughter abroad if the money was not sent within a week.
The controversial demand reportedly came during a recent church service, where the pastor claimed to have received a divine revelation concerning a legal issue involving the woman’s daughter, who has been living in Australia for the past two years.
The pastor confronted the woman publicly, referencing a land dispute affecting her daughter overseas. The woman is said to have confirmed the situation, acknowledging that her daughter was indeed struggling with a property matter abroad.
The pastor then questioned how the daughter was able to acquire land within such a short period of relocating. He then demanded that he be allowed to speak directly with the daughter via phone and insisted that a sum of $1,000 be transferred to his account by the end of the week.
He warned that failure to comply with the request could result in the deportation of the lady from Australia.
“Thus says the Lord, for this case to end, and for you not to fall a victim, 1,000 dollars should enter my hand before the end of this month. If not your documents won’t be approved and you will get deported.”
