Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has addressed the public for the first time since a viral video wrongly accused him of pointing a firearm at someone.
He took time during his Sunday message, broadcast live on the church’s YouTube channel, to speak about the controversy that has followed him for days.
He described the allegation as a deliberate attempt to exploit his name for online traffic. “What we have had to witness was clickbaiters just looking for money. I probably wasn’t even their target; their target was to make more money,” he told his congregation.
The pastor admitted that the false accusation shook him deeply. “Several persons called me. I was shocked. I was hurt. I’m human,” he said, recalling the emotional impact of the widespread misinformation.
The viral video in question claimed that Adefarasin pulled a gun on a content creator, but he made it clear during his sermon that the incident had been grossly misrepresented. “I was falsely accused of pointing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who came within personal distance. I do not have a pistol license. I do not carry a firearm. And I pointed no firearm at anybody.”
He also noted that the moment in question took place on a day he sets aside for spiritual reflection. “It happened on Saturday when I observed Sabbath. I believe in the principle of Sabbath.”
Rather than focus on the negativity, Adefarasin chose to emphasize his ministry’s stance on such matters. “It’s our policy not to dignify hate speech and false accusations. We believe God is bigger than that,” he said, reinforcing a message of restraint and trust in divine justice.
As he continued, Adefarasin leaned into scripture for reassurance, quoting a passage from Romans: “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
He acknowledged the strain the experience had placed on him, but said his faith remained strong. “God is touched with the feelings of our infirmities, and He’s able to first give us succour. And what the enemy means for evil, He works it for good.”
