Reverend Isaac Omolehin has raised questions about the growing contrast between personal wealth and institutional development within Nigeria’s religious community.
During a recent meeting with church leaders, the Kwara State-based pastor referred to findings from the World Council of Churches.
The report obtained by GospelRaw shows that while five of the world’s ten wealthiest pastors are Nigerians, none of the ten wealthiest churches is located in the country.
Omolehin described the situation as concerning and said it highlights the need for reflection among religious leaders.
“It is worth thinking about. The figures show that Nigerian pastors appear prominently on global wealth lists, but none of our churches rank among the top in terms of institutional value,” he said.
The renowned clergyman also drew a comparison with international religious leadership, noting that although the Roman Catholic Church is considered the wealthiest globally, its leader, the Pope, does not personally own luxury assets such as private aircraft.
